3 Mobile Network is the UK’s foremost mobile media company offering a convergence of communications, entertainment and information. 3G Mobile is a significant moment in the history of communications and media. They have created a different type of business by defining a new category which fuses together information, communication and entertainment in to a single mobile device. Today it is the market leader in 3G mobiles.

The 3 network is available across eight countries and has over 10 million customers. In the UK alone, it acquired 3.5million 3G customers after 32 months of operations - that’s more than the other UK mobile operators combined.

There are three main customer offerings delivering 3G technology via the network. As well as offering traditional methods of communication such as voice calling and text, it uses 3G technology to offer video calling, video messaging and mobile blogging.

The company also initiated the delivery of content through mobiles as the first network to offer the UK’s first live video mobile news and entertainment channel and stream live TV over mobile in the UK. It has also realized the value of information services while on the move and offer customers wireless web and access to the internet
3 network’s coverage consists of two service areas; a video service area, which covers cities, major towns and motorways in the UK (88% of the population can access this service) and is being constantly expanded and a national voice and picture service area.
Customers who are in a video service area will be able to use all of 3’s services. Customers in the national voice and picture services area will be able to use make calls, send texts, access email with 99% coverage in the UK. Depending on the customer’s choice of handset, they may also have access to other features in this service area.
3G core network supplier is Nokia with Nokia and NEC Corporation sharing the radio-access network contracts.
